Ethos

Our distinctive ethos is very important to us at The Laughing Sole.
The Club has a great reputation for being friendly and welcoming.

The Laughing Sole is a comedy club working under a cleaner, less offensive ethos.  It is not just about the content of material being more life-affirming but also the feel of the club as well.  The Laughing Sole offers a friendly and hospitable environment for a great night of comedy.

The Laughing Sole seeks to reflect something of the diversity of Birmingham with the comedians that perform. Humour relaxes people and breaks down barriers and often comedians will raise issues of race, culture, faith or prejudice from their own experience.

Our hope for The Laughing Sole Comedy Club is that laughing together will not only build community, but also greater tolerance and understanding. Our values could be sumarised as Welcome, Laughter & Respect

'The LaughingSole has is all. Wonderful acts, wonderful atmosphere in the
audience and it's all an overflow of Helen's wonderful love of comedy and
community. Working with Helen doesn't feel like work because she knows how to
make you feel really valued. You want to give your best to Helen because she
brings that out in people. In a word, she is most kind.'

Tim Feak, Under 25's officer, St. Asaph Diocese, Church of Wales says,

The very nature of such an intiative gives people somewhere to go to encounter a warm, accepting and culturally relevant evening. At its best The Laughing Sole communicates the very essence of the gospel message, without necessarily using words it portrays the acceptance and love of Christ.'

Tim Feak initiated taking The Laughing Sole to North Wales and works closely with Helen to run a successful regular comedy night in Wrexham.
